When a patient has a job, it can be very beneficial for the practice to include the employer’s information in the patient file as well as the Occupation data about the patient. The employer and occupation information under this tab (Figure 7) is available for use in Narrative Reports in ChiroPadEMR and for practice marketing in the Letters in both ChiroPadEMR and ChiroOffice. The data can be automatically inserted into Narrative Reports and Letters through available merge variable fields in the SmartPad Template Editor. There is a full chapter devoted to the SmartPad Template Editor. In order to enter Employer information, the employer data must first be entered in the Employer Catalog. For more details about entering data in the Employer Catalog, please review the Employer Catalog section in Chapter 7.
If the patient is employed, place a check in the box just above the Employer name box. Click on the Browse button (the square button with three “dots”). The browse Employer Catalog screen opens. Select the employer and the information will populate the appropriate boxes for this patient. In Job Title/Description, enter the title of the patient’s job. Should you desire, you can expand on the job description by typing in any additional information that you feel is warranted. When the patient is performing his/her job, enter in the Usual Work Activities box the actions and functions that the patient normally does at work. Be sure to click on the appropriate selection for Full Time or Part Time.
If the patient is a student, place
a check in the box just above School Name. Then type in the name of the
school. Click on Full Time or Part Time to identify the patient’s student
status.
