It has happened on many occasions
that a patient comes in and insists he/she does not have insurance. At a later
date, the patient say he/she actually does have insurance and wants you to bill
the insurance company for services that have been assigned to patient
responsibility. To change the responsibility of a transaction from patient to insurance
responsibility, open the patient’s insurance file. After entering the
insurance information, click the Retroactive button. This opens the
Retroactive window. Click to select the transaction you wish to
transfer to insurance, and then
click the Change button. If there is more than
one transaction that should be transferred, but not all, hold the Control key down while clicking on each
transaction that is to be assigned to the Insurance Carrier. If all transactions on the list
need to be transferred to insurance responsibility, just put a check in the box
to Select
All. At the bottom
of the screen, click the Change button. Another window
(Edit Minimum
Payment) may appear.
On the Edit Minimum
Payment window,
click OK to finalize the change.
The patient’s transaction ledger should now show the charges
on the insurance column.
