Mail claims to

The Mail Claims To box is blank if Accept Patient Assignment has been selected. When Accept Patient Assignment is selected, it means that the practice is submitting the claims directly to the insurance carrier. If Accept Patient Assignment is selected, the default is Carrier and can not be changed.

 

When Accept Patient Assignment is NOT checked, use this combobox to direct the insurance claims to the patient (paper claims), carrier (electronic submission as a courtesy to the patient) or subscriber/policyholder. An example of when to select subscriber/policyholder: the patient is a child covered by the policy of a non-custodial divorced parent.
