This field classifies this patient as a member of another patient’s household, and allows the monthly statement billing for this patient to be addressed to the patient designated as Head of Household. By removing the check from this box, you will have the option of designating another patient as the head of household for this patient. If this patient is the only member of the family that comes into the office, regardless of age, the check should remain in the box. When more than 1 person from the family is a patient, the Head of Household classification can be applied. One parent is designated as the Head of Household and each family member is assigned to that patient. The result is that all monthly statements are sent to the Head of Household while clearly itemized for each individual member of the family. This classification may also be used in the SmartSelect filter and sort operations for generating reports and letters. This is beneficial when there are 2 or more members of a family in your office and you want to have the monthly billing statements combined and mailed to the Head of Household.
