Exam

This field is for the Medicare PART exam code. If the need for Chiropractic care is being documented by the PART exam instead of by x-ray, enter the appropriate letters in this box. Alternatively, the PART letters may be entered in the Text box.

The letters stand for:

P = Pain A=Asymmetry                     R=Range of Motion            T=Tonicity

Asymmetry refers to subluxation and/or fixation

Tonicity refers to muscle tone, either hypertonicity or hypotonicity

On any claim using the PART exam, the practice is permitted to use only those letters that identify the exam(s) performed for the dates being billed. Medicare requires a minimum of 2 letters for the code on each claim and 1 of the 2 letters must be either A or R. In other words, the only combination that should NEVER be used would be PT.
