It is not necessary to click on the New button. As soon as SmartPad is open, it is ready to create a new template. The template could be a letter, narrative report, or document.
If an existing template was being edited and now there is a need to create a new template, after clicking Save for the existing template that was worked on, click on the New button to open the blank SmartPad window. Select the options for the document using the controls and selections described above. Once the options have been set, just type as normally as in any word processor.
When the new template has been completed, be sure that it is saved in the proper location. Narrative templates MUST be saved in the Narrative Templates; letters MUST be saved in the Letter Templates. If these items are saved in other areas, they will NOT be available through the ChiroSuiteEHR programs.
