To the right side of the Retroactive button is the
Change Carrier button
. On occasion it happens that the wrong
insurance carrier is entered in a patient file, although all the patient and
claim data that is entered is correct. Provided that the correct carrier is in
the Insurance Carrier
Catalog, click the Change Carrier button, select
the correct carrier, and not only will the correct carrier now be in place, but
also all the data that had been entered will remain so that it does not need to
be re-entered.
NOTE: Do NOT use this button if the Insurance Carrier had been correct in the past and the patient is now covered by a different company. If charges had correctly been billed to this carrier and the Change Carrier button is used, the historical billing data that is critical to the practice will be lost.
