On the upper left of the Muscle window, click on the New icon. A pop-up will appear to enter the Muscle Name. Type the Muscle Name in the text box. Then click the Add button. This will start the process of adding the new Muscle to the Muscles List. The new Muscle Name will now appear in the box at the upper right of the window. To complete the process of adding the new Muscle to the list, it must be assigned to at least 1 Region. Click on each of the Regions in the box on the lower right, so they are highlighted, in which the Muscle should be included.
In addition to the mandatory Region entry, there are 3 optional items that may help to make entries about a patient more complete. The 3 options are:
•Spinal Innervation – This is the spinal nerve root level that is responsible for innervating the muscle. The Spinal Innervations entered in ChiroPadEMR have been derived from standard anatomy texts. If it is known when the Muscle is being entered in the system, it should be entered simultaneously. If it is not known at that time, it may be added in at a later date.
•Organ Relationship – Based on a combination of Chiropractic Applied Kinesiology and Acupressure/Acupuncture, this entry correlates the functions of the Muscle with a specific organ, or organs, allowing for a more comprehensive therapeutic approach.
•Motion – This entry displays the movement that the Muscle performs
Once everything has been entered, click the Save icon in the upper left corner of the window. The new Muscle Name will now appear on the Muscle List on the left, in alphabetical order. In order to see all the Muscles in the list, it is necessary to use the scroll bar.
