There are occasions when it is necessary to open the Documents window without generating a SOAP note. An example is when a prior note needs to be reviewed, or to create a Narrative Report, or to generate a Letter or other document. Once the patient file is open, click on the Documents icon in the Icon Button Bar (figure 5).

As soon as the Documents window is open, it will be seen that it is the same window as previously viewed, but there is no generated SOAP note. In the upper left of the window there are 4 tabs, New, Prior, Narratives, and Letters (figure 6).
